About Townsend Builders Inc.

Originally from Maine, young Ben Townsend’s family moved to Clinton in 1966 where he finished High School and then College for Mechanical Engineering.  Coming from a family of tradesmen, his calling was carpentry.  He married, started his business and as time went on the family and workload grew. In 1985  the Townsends settled in the Griswold family home on Green Hill Road.  “It has been a nice fit and my wife Judy and I love it here” says Ben.

Townsend Builders, Inc. has been serving customers throughout the local area, including shoreline towns from Niantic to Greenwich, for 39 years.  Their extensive experience includes all that encompasses building, renovation and repair of residential homes.   Ben adds “We take pride in doing it right the first time, built to last, with the greatest reward being asked to come back for more projects.  Our portfolio includes new beachfront homes, total home renovations, remodeling rooms of all kinds, additions, barns and custom cabinetry. Some of our work here in town includes restoring the Emmanuel Church Chapel and the Redfield house on Chestnut Hill Road.”

In his spare time Ben is a licensed ham radio operator, talking with local hams in town, state and country wide. Ham radio operators can provide vital communications service to assist the local officials during times of a disaster.  For more information visit www.townsendbuildersinc.com or call (860) 663-3184.
